The 4th edition of TRANSFIERE, European Forum for Science, Technology, and Innovation, took place at the Malaga Fair and Congress Palace on February 11 and 12, 2015, concluding its last edition with a 30% increase in professional participation, gathering more than 2,300 attendees from 26 countries and a 50% increase in scheduled work meetings in the networking area, totaling 5,000 meetings to generate business and collaboration opportunities. BIOVEGEN participated in this event within the Forum of Spanish Technological Platforms, at the Round Table on ‘Food Industry, Agriculture, and Fishing’ alongside other technological platforms. This round table showcased the potential of innovation and technology transfer in agri-food as a driver of competitiveness, presenting significant data from each sector, specific funding as well as representative success stories.

The event, which is based on the need to promote dialogue between the research community and businesses to enhance Spanish innovation on a global scale, has incorporated an online appointment agenda for holding meetings around the main productive sectors, such as Aeronautics and Aerospace – for the first time -, Agri-food, Energy, Industry, Infrastructure and Transport, Environment, Health, ICT, Public Administrations, and Spanish Technological Platforms. This meeting space hosted more than 5,000 appointments. Among these, BIOVEGEN had a working space where it held more than 22 bilateral meetings with technology demanders and suppliers to explore possible collaboration avenues between the public and private sectors.

In total, more than 450 public and private entities have participated in Transfiere, which has consolidated itself as a priority showcase for Spanish innovation by bringing together 2,050 technological profiles, around fifty universities, and 220 research groups.

The Transfiere Forum is organized by the Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Málaga (Fycma), and co-organized by the City Council of the capital and the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Junta de Andalucía through the Andalusian Knowledge Agency with FEDER funds. Among the leading companies are renowned multinationals such as Clarke, Modet & Cía España, Telefónica, Airbus Group, and Endesa.

Additionally, it has the collaboration of the Association of Scientific and Technological Parks of Spain (APTE), the Technological Park of Andalucía (PTA), Top Digital Business Group, the School of Industrial Organization (EOI) – with co-financing from European FEDER funds – and the Provincial Council of Málaga.
