[1]
Improvement of varieties
/ Productivity (resistance to biotic stress such as pests, viruses, pathogens; tolerance to abiotic stress such as drought, salinity, tolerance to herbicides; plant-soil interaction, nutrient absorption, metabolic improvement; etc.)
/ Nutritional improvement enrichment of vitamins, better taste, nutraceutical foods.
/ Post-harvest physiology (delaying fruit ripening)
/ Processing of gourmet food
/ Improvement of ornamentals: structure, posture, color, aroma, absence of fruit…

BIOVEGEN AND THE SPANISH STRATEGY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
Strategy 2021-2027
The Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology, and Innovation 2021-2027 has been designed to maximize coordination between state and regional planning and programming and to facilitate the articulation of our R&D&I policy with the EU framework program for science and innovation, Horizon Europe (2021-2027).
•
It includes activities aimed at addressing the problems caused by COVID-19, placing special emphasis on the health sector in the first two years of the plan (2021-2022). It also emphasizes the importance of consolidating and enhancing science and innovation as a tool for the social, economic, and industrial reconstruction of our country.

INVESTMENT AND STRATEGIC AREAS
Horizon Europe and the State Plan
With the implementation of this Strategy, it is expected to double the sum of public and private investments, reaching the European average by 2027 — from 1.24% of GDP in 2018 to 2.12% in 2027.
The national strategic lines are framed within the thematic groups of Horizon Europe:
/ Health
/ Culture, creativity and inclusive society
/ Security for society
/ Digital world, industry, space, and defense
/ Climate, energy, and mobility
/ Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, and the environment

This Strategy is implemented through the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.
One of the dynamic actions contemplated in this Plan is the Technological and Innovation Platforms (PTIs).

TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORMS
Public-private dialogue and collaboration
Technological Platforms are an essential agent for promoting public-private dialogue and collaboration, and they constitute an instrument of R&D&I policy; driven by the business fabric, they are an important player in defining R&D&I priorities both sectoral and cross-sectoral.
The aids contemplated in this PEICTI are intended for technological platforms with the objectives of:
Promoting the incorporation of all agents in the value chain
Identifying agendas for applied research and experimental development to address sectoral challenges
To meet these objectives, it is necessary to consider the convergence of technologies and knowledge and to promote collaboration among platforms.
