On April 10, 2025, BIOVEGEN participated in the event “A Decade of Innovative Projects from Operational Groups“, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Operational Groups Call, a key tool for promoting innovation and modernization in rural areas.
In this regard, since the approval of the National Rural Development Plan in 2015, Spain has played a prominent role in innovating the agri-food sector through Operational Groups, with the creation of 177 operational groups and the financing of 123 innovative projects during the period 2014-2022, with a total investment of 155 million euros. These figures position Spain as a leader in the European Union in terms of the number of initiatives, representing 20% of the projects supported by the EU.
During the event, several success stories arising from this call were presented. Specifically, the RETA, SMARTOM, SUBALMA, REBO2VINO, and CARBOGAN Operational Groups showcased their innovative initiatives, aimed at addressing the needs of the agri-food, forestry, and rural sectors. Additionally, the imminent opening of the 2025 Call for financing new Operational Groups was announced, which will have a budget of 46 million euros.
