On May 8th, the annual meeting of the ARRIGE association took place, where the topic was “genome editing in plants (and animals) in the European Union compared to other countries in the world”. The meeting allowed for extensive discussions on the latest advancements in genome editing in plants and animals. Additionally, BIOVEGEN participated in this meeting with the presentation “Genome editing in plants from BIOVEGEN” and in a subsequent roundtable alongside other entities in the sector: Fundación Antama, ANOVE, the University of Minnesota, and the EFFAB (European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders).

The ARRIGE association aims to promote global governance of genome editing through a comprehensive environment for all stakeholders, including academics, researchers, medical professionals, public institutions, private companies, patient organizations, and other non-governmental organizations, regulators, citizens, media, governmental agencies, and decision-makers. In addition to fostering scientific, ethical, social, legal, and political reflection in the field of genome editing, it encourages the development of genome editing technologies within a safe and ethical framework for people and our societies. It considers the dissemination of reliable information about genome editing technology essential for experts (across all fields), politicians, and citizens worldwide.
