From May 18-20, BIOVEGEN participated in the meeting of the Research Network “Learning from Nature: Multitrophic Interactions for Crop and Forest Protection” (Ref. RED2018-102407-T), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. The meeting took place at the Lucas Olazábal Residence of UPM, in Cercedilla. This network, composed of 11 groups of Spanish scientists from different universities, CSIC research centers, and Autonomous Communities (IVIA), is interested in deepening the understanding of the complex interactions between plants and phytophagous organisms through coordinated action among the groups.

The network has a special interest in knowledge transfer and collaboration with the private sector, which is why on May 19, a science-business session organized by BIOVEGEN took place, featuring companies such as ARTAL, TRADECORP, BIOMAR, DF BLUE AGRO, CLEAN BIOTEC, PROBELTE, KOPPERT, FERTINAGRO BIOTECH, and AGRIFOOD INNOVATIONS. In this session, the companies presented their goals and interests, and there was an active and enriching discussion panel on science-business.

Additionally, this event allowed BIOVEGEN to present the objectives and characteristics of the Operational Group MICROCLIMATT project, whose goal is to highlight the essential role of agricultural biostimulants. The MicroClimatt Operational Group, with a budget of 557,816.49 euros, is co-financed by the European Union at 80% from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 20% from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, with the managing authority responsible for applying the aid being the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-food Training (DGDRIFA).
