On February 16, the Award Ceremony for the IX National Biotechnology Prize took place. This award, which included participation from BIOEVEGEN in its jury, is coordinated by ISDE, where the meeting was held. In this edition, the awardee was virologist Luis Enjuanes, head of the Coronavirus laboratory at the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC). This award is a recognition of his work related to biotechnology and his role in the science of our country, due to his close involvement in the development of COVID-19 vaccines.
Dr. Enjuanes shared the following reflections during the event: “It’s not worth getting involved in a project if it’s not important, novel, and good, to avoid disappointment. This will help you during the toughest moments of research.” “If you only stick to one type of field, you won’t get far; you need to combine fields. When you combine, you break through barriers.”
