Over the past year, the government has published various initiatives and programs aimed at promoting the digitalization of national value chains.
On July 23, 2020, the Digital Spain 2025 Plan was presented, aimed at Spanish digital transformation as a lever for economic growth, which includes the promotion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a fundamental pillar. In this regard, the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy provides a reference framework and impetus for the public and private sectors.
On another note, on September 8, 2020, the Council of Ministers approved the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (EECTI) 2021-2027, a primary tool for the consolidation and reinforcement of the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI), which will promote the coordination and alignment of public policies that favor the digitalization of our society and industries in the field of R&D&I.
In this context, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation will support with €105,000,000 from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism the funding of research and development projects in artificial intelligence and other digital technologies and their integration into the value chain.
