Horizon Europe is the future Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union for the period 2021-2027. Horizon Europe has the largest budget to date, amounting to 100 billion euros, in addition to the funds from Next Generation UE and the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. Compared to the previous Programme, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe includes innovations that allow for better structuring and simplification of the programme. It is structured into three pillars that allow for dividing the thematic actions of the EU.

Within this Programme, Cluster 6 stands out due to the affinity its themes show with the activities carried out by the entities in the BIOVEGEN ecosystem. In this sense, we have developed a BIOVEGEN Report on the Work Programme 2021-2022 of Cluster 6:  Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment.

The Cluster 6 is the section of HORIZON EUROPE that addresses themes in line with the agri-food sector, encompassing topics such as food, agriculture, bioeconomy, and environment. It has a total budget of 10 billion euros for the period 2021-2027 (approximately 10% of the total budget of HORIZON EUROPE).

The Work Programme 2021-2022 has a budget of 1,921.17 million euros (1,020.53 million euros for 2021, 900.64 million euros for 2022), aiming to finance around 300 research and innovation projects and is structured through seven sub-calls.
