The CALL FOR SCIENCE AND INNOVATION MISSIONS 2022 has just been published, with grants amounting to 125 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism for competitive research projects in cooperation. The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) will finance large business R&D projects aimed at addressing significant societal challenges represented in 6 missions:

  1. Strengthen technological capabilities for safe and sustainable energy autonomy (fusion, hydrogen, and renewables).
  2. Boost the Spanish industry in the industrial revolution of the 21st century.
  3. Promote a more sustainable agri-food sector adapted to the new conditions associated with climate change, thanks to the relevant use of advanced biotechnological tools.
  4. Develop application technologies in the naval sector that enhance its competitiveness in the 21st century.
  5. Promote the substitution, recovery, and valorization of mineral resources and strategic materials for the Ecological Transition.
  6. Develop and strengthen an integrated photonics ecosystem in Spain.

One of the included thematic Missions is “Promoting a more sustainable agri-food sector adapted to the new conditions associated with climate change through the relevant use of advanced biotechnological tools”, therefore, given the interest that this call has for our sector, we at BIOVEGEN have prepared a report to convey the most relevant aspects of this program.
