FINAL EVENT GO NATURSMOKE: New disinfection technologies for pathogen control

The operational group GO-NATURSMOKE was established in 2023 within the framework of the Rural Development Program of Andalusia 2014-2022, with the aim of designing and developing innovative smoking products that contribute to the efficient control of various plant health diseases that cause significant economic losses in agricultural production.

The proposed new technology involves the use of natural antimicrobial compounds obtained from food waste that are safe for consumers and the environment. This novel approach will reduce the use of chemical plant protection products and minimize the occurrence of diseases during pre- and post-harvest in a natural and sustainable way, while maintaining the quality and safety levels of the product that will ultimately be marketed.

In this context, the final event of GO NATURSMOKE will be held on June 10, 2025 at the University Venue of Carmen de la Victoria (Granada). This event will showcase the results generated during the execution of this innovative project related to new disinfection technologies based on active ingredients obtained from food waste for pathogen control in greenhouses and post-harvest.
