Since 1976, AVASA (Association of Citrus Nurserymen, S.A.) has provided the highest quality and guaranteed citrus material, within the Spanish certification system. The plant material marketed by AVASA is introduced through the Sanitation and Certification Program developed at the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research, which certifies the absence of known diseases. AVASA reproduces this material in an isolated valley away from the main cultivation areas, within facilities equipped with active and passive security measures to prevent contamination by pathogens. These measures allow for the supply of top-quality citrus plant material, based on health, authenticity, and varietal diversification. Periodically, all materials undergo strict health and varietal controls, both internal and by official responsible organizations, complying with the strict Spanish and European Certification Regulations.

AVASA continues to be the largest base citrus nursery in Spain and has the greatest number of varieties. It maintains, evaluates, reproduces, and markets more than 200 varieties of citrus, including the most important ones in the world, among them more than 90 exclusive AVASA-PRi ® varieties.
