CARTIF is a horizontal, private, and non-profit Technological Center. Its mission is to offer innovative solutions to companies to improve their processes, systems, and products, enhancing their competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.
CARTIF develops R&D+i projects financed directly by companies or through public funds obtained in competitive calls at the national and international level. CARTIF also advises public administrations (municipalities and regional governments) in the planning and development of innovative projects with high economic returns.
CARTIF is a multidisciplinary center that carries out its activities in multiple knowledge areas focused on almost all economic sectors: energy, food, industry, construction and infrastructure, health, and the environment, with technological lines that respond to the main challenges in each of them, such as smart networks, smart cities, energy efficiency, heritage, quality of life, circular economy, natural resources, and biotechnology.
In the field of Biotechnology, CARTIF integrates various knowledge areas and tools based on biotechnology and green chemistry for the improvement and sustainability of industrial processes, the environment, and quality of life. It focuses on research and the implementation of solutions applied to the industrial sector (agri-food, chemistry, materials), from the perspective of developing more efficient, sustainable, and integrated products and processes in the useful life cycle.
