On June 20, the second webinar organized by BIOVEGEN, in collaboration with CAJAMAR and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants (IBMCP-UPV-CSIC) was held. Under the title “Seaweed Bio-stimulants for Increasing Productivity in Crops“, the event presented a successful collaboration case between IBMCP and the company PLYMAG to develop a bio-stimulant product based on seaweed extracts.

During the session, issues related to the process of selection of plant material, the manufacturing of the bio-stimulant, and the quantification of the metabolites contained in it, beyond the requirements of current regulations, were addressed in order to ensure the good positioning of this product both in the field and later in the market. Specifically, to achieve this last point, the speakers emphasized the importance of carrying out a multidisciplinary approach, using physiological studies to understand the mechanism of action of the bio-stimulant through quantification and identification of its metabolic composition. With all this, the webinar concluded with a discussion forum, which sparked the interest of the more than 350 registered participants.
