During this project year, GO NATURSMOKE has continued to advance in the development of smoke products that have been worked on, with promising results both in the formulation of the product and in its behavior during the burning process. Additionally, efficacy tests have been carried out in vitro against some of the main pathogens responsible for the largest losses in red fruit crops: Colletotrichum acutatum, Botrytis cinerea, Phytophthora cactorum, and Fusarium oxysporum.

In particular, these tests were performed under two different application regimes. On one hand, the preventive regime consisted of applying the smoke product before infection occurs or visible symptoms appear, with the aim of preventing the establishment of the pathogen in plant tissues. On the other hand, the curative regime was based on applying the product once the infection had started to try to halt the pathogen’s development, reduce its spread, and minimize damage to the plant.

In parallel with this work, the residuality of the product on the key material has been studied. This analysis is crucial for determining agronomic safety parameters such as the reentry period and the safety period. All of this has allowed progress towards effective and safe solutions for plant protection in crops, contributing to more sustainable and technologically advanced production.
