The CALL FOR SCIENCE AND INNOVATION MISSIONS 2022 has just been published, with grants amounting to 125 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism for competitive research projects in cooperation. The Center for Technological Development and Industrial Innovation (CDTI) will finance large R&D business projects through this program aimed at addressing significant societal challenges represented in 6 missions:

  1. Strengthen technological capabilities for secure and sustainable energy autonomy (fusion, hydrogen, and renewables).
  2. Boost the Spanish industry in the industrial revolution of the 21st century.
  3. Promote a more sustainable agri-food sector adapted to the new conditions associated with climate change through a significant use of advanced biotechnological tools.
  4. Develop application technologies in the naval sector that enhance its competitiveness in the 21st century.
  5. Encourage the substitution, recovery, and valorization of mineral resources and strategic materials for the Ecological Transition.
  6. Develop and strengthen an integrated photonics ecosystem in Spain.

One of the thematic Missions included is “Promote a more sustainable agri-food sector adapted to the new conditions associated with climate change through a significant use of advanced biotechnological tools”, so given the interest that this call has for our sector, we at BIOVEGEN have prepared a report to convey the most relevant aspects of this program.
