On March 31, 2025, the “I WEBINAR GO BIODIF: biofunctionalization of strategic crops to improve their competitiveness in the market” took place, an event dedicated to presenting this innovative project and its members.
During the event, which had more than 65 participants throughout its duration, the main objectives of BIODIF were outlined, an innovative initiative that seeks the biofunctionalization of national strategic crops like tomato, corn, and olive using nanotechnology to enhance their market competitiveness.
Additionally, the project members presented the work lines that will be developed in the coming months, addressing key aspects such as the identification of healthy/target compounds from a nutritional perspective, selection of genetic material, establishment of protocols for biofunctionalization, analysis of the impact of nanofertilizers, nutritional labeling, and economic and sensitivity analysis of producers and cooperatives.
The webinar concluded with the intervention of the Simbioliva Operational Group, an initiative originating from the 2023 Call for Operational Groups that aims to promote a circular economy strategy in olive growing, focused on the management of olive pomace.
