WHAT IS AN OPERATIONAL GROUP?

A joint strategy to tackle the challenges of the sector

An Operational Group (OG) is a grouping of actors from different profiles, such as farmers, researchers, universities, etc., to jointly address a specific problem or opportunity from a multi-sectoral approach.

BIODIF OPERATIONAL GROUP

Biofunctionalization of crops

This project aims for the biofunctionalization with essential micro/macro elements of three strategic national crops used as food matrices: tomato, corn, and olive for the production of table olives and oil, through the application of nanotechnology (nanofertilizers).

Biofunctionalization of crops

This project aims for the biofunctionalization with essential micro/macro elements of three strategic national crops used as food matrices: tomato, corn, and olive for the production of table olives and oil, through the application of nanotechnology (nanofertilizers).

OBJECTIVES

From biofunctionalization to the market

The project comprehensively addresses the biofunctionalization of strategic crops, from the selection and characterization of nutrients and bioactive compounds to the evaluation of their benefits, sustainability, and potential for market incorporation.

[1]

Select the most interesting nutrients and bioactive compounds from the perspective of nutrition and health and establish their analysis methodology.

[2]

Characterize the impact of biofunctionalization on the agronomic, organoleptic, and nutritional properties of commercial and traditional varieties of tomato, corn, and olive in different environments.

[3]

Evaluate the feasibility of nutritional claims/labels and health properties in crops of interest and certification of Good Practices for Circular Economy (BPEC)/Sustainable Agriculture.

[4]

Analyze the implications for the management of agri-food companies of incorporating biofunctionalized foods into the market.
